The Lord's Table, Jodi Butler

I have been a believer in the Lord Jesus since I was eight years old. However, I didn't have a real turn to the Lord until I was in high school. At this time, I was baptized and began to enjoy reading the Bible daily. Through a consistent reading of the Bible, a seeking for the reality of what I was reading started to develop within me. The Lord honored this seeking and brought me to the local church first, in Tulare, and then in Fullerton, after transferring to Cal State University Fullerton.

One part of the church life that I appreciate is having the Lord's table every Sunday. At the Lord's table I am able to be gathered out of everything from the previous week to start a new week by remembering the Lord through singing, praising, and partaking of the symbols on the table of the Lord's body broken for us and His blood poured out for us to establish a new covenant (Lk 22:19-20). At this table I enjoy singing hymns and praising through prayer to the Lord with others for what He has done and who He is. Our God deserves the highest praise. So I am happy that there is a time set aside just to remember Him and praise Him. After this time I am always refreshed and have a sense of satisfaction. I believe the Lord is also satisfied to receive the sacrifice of praises (Heb. 13:15).

“Lord Jesus, gladly do our lips express

our heart's deep sense of all Thy worthiness;

Thou risen One, the Holy and the True,

We give thee now the praise so justly due.” (Hymn 212)
